GitHub Repo Checker: Is This Project Still Maintained?
Paste any public GitHub repository to see whether it is still maintained. The checker reads the project’s live activity from the GitHub API, including commits over the last 91 days compared with a year earlier, the latest release, contributors and merged pull requests, and turns it into the same 0 to 100 Health score we use for the AI tools on our dashboard. It is free and needs no sign-up.

How the Health score is built
| Part | Max points | Based on |
|---|---|---|
| Activity | 35 | Commits on the default branch in the last 91 days (full marks at 600) |
| Trend | 20 | Commits against the same 91 days a year earlier |
| Recency | 15 | Days since the last commit |
| Releases | 10 | Days since the latest GitHub release (neutral when a project publishes none) |
| Community | 20 | Pull requests merged in the last 91 days (full marks at 300) |
Archived repositories score 0, and a maintenance notice in the README caps the score at 25. The score measures maintenance signals only: it says nothing about code quality, security or whether a project fits your needs. Results for repositories outside our index are cached for 12 hours.
